There's something about Rain.

There's something about rain that reminds me of Bangalore. In India I always loved rains when people would take a break from the day and enjoy a cup of tea and hot pakodas just because it is raining. Papa would walk in his white kurta in muddy water and mom would yell from upstairs -'it's all dirty water, come upstairs,' to which papa would respond like a weather reporter -'poora bhar gaya, tolichowki doob jata.' (it's all filled with water, the city will drown).

It reminds me of my favorite city in India - Bangalore, where I discovered the love of my sisters life 'Jeeju' who took care of me when I was on a bed rest every Saturday's when sis was gone for work. We sat eating the whole box of rasgullas not leaving any for sis.

I always had the door of the room open so that I could see what everyone's doing from the vents of the gate. The city is the most clean city in India in general, at least the part of area I lived - Koramangla, so you smell the wet earth every time it rained.

It's been raining a lot here, President Obama declared 'disaster' as death toll went to 21 in texas because of floods, I was thinking Modi is yet to express his thoughts about the heat waves and death toll in India which is more than a 1000 in just a week.

That's it for this morning.

The Day - May 12, 2012.

May 13/ 2013

It's been a year we graduated, life's very different now. While giving me the degree Dr Grace said 'No more late night studies,' he was right. It was end of late night studies, getting off work early to finish the home work, no more skipping meals and living on monster drinks. Sometimes I miss all that, when I see students in the university, I don't go there often but I don't miss any chance to go there. Two days back I attended the graduation ceremony of few friends, no doubt it was super fun, let me correct myself not as fun as my Graduation day was, I know I will never stop comparing and proving my thing the best and yes I don't like it when people compare my things or me to something else.

I was such a jerk to not write a blog on my Graduation, I remember sis and few friends told me to write one, but it took long to get back to blogging, well I at least started writing again, I am glad. When I was asking the tickets from Dorrie, our favorite International Student adviser, I asked her what time do we come in she said 'the same time as you did,' I was dumbstruck -What time did we go? All I remembered was my stomach ache, it hurt so much, no food for 5 hours, not even water. When we came out of the arena, people were congratulating us and I so much wanted to get out of there and calm my stomach.

I remember sis kept telling me 'Its your day, you have to look the best and you have to party hard.' We didn't have anything decided all we knew was our seniors were going to attend the ceremony, none of our parents had come for the ceremony. It was very nice of our seniors to attend and make it memorable, I felt so blessed to have them when I attended my juniors(not really juniors but they graduated after us, so..)Commencement and realized what their presence really meant.

I remember I got up early at six thirty or seven, keeping in mind my hair have to be straight-straight  like a bamboo stick not like noodles or Shahnaaz Hussain( not insulting her, her hair are great but I don't like them cos I got the same kind of hair). I got ready early because I knew I have to go on Skype and see my parents on the big day, I logged in and saw that they're not online, I called them and guess what, my sister told me they cannot come online because the transformer blasted because of the overload the neighbors put as there  was a marriage in the adjacent house. I cursed the neighbor to death, forget about they were celebrating an important function before marriage and its all dark in their house, my parents couldn't see me on the special day nor they would be able to watch the ceremony online was my sorrow. My elder sister came online and she took pictures and sent to the potter sister and also posted on Facebook, she told me that my hair were too dry and need serum, I rushed to Walgreens and got two varieties of  it, just in case if one didn't work.

Our super senior friend picked us in his SUV, we reached the venue and wore the gown, it was a special feeling, I don't think I can ever feel so proud wearing something but this was it. I was worried that my mood might spoil cause along with me were few unwanted faces walking in the ceremony too..but it didn't effect at all. I was saddened by the fact that everyone's parents were watching the live telecast of the ceremony and my parents were in dark..hah..I now remember they were not in dark, they were attending the neighbors function.

I see the pictures at least once a month and when I attended the ceremony last week everything just came out like live, I was seeing myself walking, so happy waving hands at my friends who were cheering us, taking pictures. I was seeing my juniors and I felt that they sad/tensed or nervous, I was waving hands seeing them but they all were just walking, I actually don't know if they were able to see us in so much crowd.

It was an experience I never want to forget except the stomach ache part. I still didn't see my degree with a feeling of achievement, I only saw it when I had to scan and send it to someone, waiting for Mom to see it first and then I can see it, I know she deserves it more than anyone.

Sissy comes US.

Feb 24 -6:52 PM
So, I have been careless enough to see the two hours halt at the transit to Detroit.

I remember the last time I regretted not giving importance  to the number of stops and giving more priority to the cost of the ticket was my trip to India last year, I realized in that trip that I don't like traveling, something which I fancied when my friend Jeet used to complaint about.  I like seeing places but I don't like that long hours of being seated in a place restricting ur muscles, bones to move..not that I am an athlete or a sporty person. I've been like this - I want every hour to be as entertaining and dramatic as kyun ki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi..haha just kidding. No, but seriously speaking I can't stand the same thing for more than 2 hrs, I start getting bored before those 120 mins of repeateddom or repeatedness, be it work or a movie. I remember I used to complain to pay 15$ for a 1.5 hrs movie coz I was used to pay less for a movie which offered entertainment for 2.5 hrs or 3 hrs sometimes.

I made my first trip all by myself in this alien country. I realized how dependent I was on my friends to drive me hear and there, all I do is drive work to home and drive back home to work, not counting those window shopping trips to malls around the place. This trip was to Indianapolis to see my sister, who I saw the last about an year ago. I couldn't see her the last time she came to California, being cal so far and I had my semester exams, also I was sure I would not buy that expensive air ticket, not to forget I was just an intern then. I wasn't sure if  I would be able to see her, I was planning to go by bus as the  guy friends who'd drive for me weren't in town and the buses were getting cancelled coz of the bad weather.  The friend who was dropping me checked if I had all my tickets and found I didn't have a part of my return ticket n he goes- you can't do anything without ur friends on ur own. I didn't collect it from the printer.

I didn't eat breakfast, I asked the lady sitting in the front of me if the bus would stop for lunch and she said no. The bus stopped  at a station and I quickly got down and bought few snacks from the wending machine. I reached to the hotel before she checked in, I saw few colleagues of hers working, I got an idea that she'd join them too once she arrives. She got down from the taxi and I ran and hugged her.  Hmm.. we didn't spend much time together as it was just a day trip, but we had dinner, breakfast and lunch together and had long chats.

Sis always has complains with the way I dress, this time I did not want to take risk and wore the sweater which she bought for me..and took a bright blue sweater for the second day, but how can she not have any problem the way I dress or look, she always does, she doesn't know but I cried watching Taare Zameen Par's Tujhe sab hai pata hai na maa song when she told me to to dress proper the day before I was starting, Mom is the only one who doesn't complain about me, I though I'll call Mom, but I didn't she'd be worried so much. I felt its all papas fault, he's the one who use to shop for her, buy all those solid colors-no more than 1 or 2 colors  in a dress and no too much pattern, design. Huh! I can't argue with their sense of dressing, I think I dress much mature or older to my age. But I like how she put make up on me n say -'do aa' for putting lipstick on, she's been doing that since I was small. Dress and Make up artist cum critique.

We couldn't shop or even take a picture together :( But I heard a lot of stories of my tiny niece who's growing so fast. I cant wait for one more small baby in the family, I haven't spent much time with my niece but still, seeing the little ones pictures and buying things for her is so much fun.

We didn't cry while parting, we're grown ups now ;) I was so tensed that I will miss the bus..I missed the chance of looting things from her make up box when she asked in the end -'take something if u like, I had my eyes on the MAC Concealer.

Eating the sweets sis got, feels like I forgot what real sweets are the desi stores here carry all the stale stuff and my interest in sweets all most went to a negative scale, this feels so heavenly and melts in mouth. Ah!..I love India for its food, no comparison ever!

Shop Alone.

I was supposed to post this last weekend. Please digest!

Dear god mother,

Every time I shop I try to think the way you do...I know I m not a .5% the way u do it ... Every single word u say still lingers in my ears...I m in a mall in Chicago shopping all alone, today i'll prove that i m ur best shishya by picking the bestest things here..missing you and kebab me haddi hums ...
I wrote this to my sister yesterday when I started shopping.. I don’t know if she got it..One of my friends happened to visit a friend in Chicago, I was asked  if I wanted to go..with no second thought I said yes. Chicago’s always been my favorite city..walking across those high branded stores which adored the streets with its banners and big LED screens, I always wanted to go in and shop something like those high heeled, no crease skimpy downtown girls..I many times went in but came back. Those downtown stores have so highly priced tags. So this time I went to a suburb shopping mall, it’s listed 8th best shopping mall in US.

I started  with JC Penny. I never  shopped here, the only thing I remember buying is a  comforter. It's hard to get good patterns in solid. I remember how crazy it got and it is still in India with those bright blue, yellow or hot pink color kurtis with some crazy borders on hands and necks. I learnt this from sis- Only one color, no freaking too many flowers, patterns on a shirt/kurti..mind you she takes this serious on sarees she wear too. Ha! All good/bad I learnt about picking clothes is from her, i don't go by those rules all the time coz its hard. So here it is isles of clothes all arranged color wise, it made picking things so easy,   I am famous for wearing same shirt in different colors, that's coz I don't find good clothes often and when i find something i tend to pick multiple colors of the same style. I don't remember when was the last I wore green or blue, I try to stay away from blue coz not even once was my day good when i am dressed in blue; sky blue to be precise.. so I try to be on a safe side and I stopped wearing any blues. I picked a bold blue (i don't know the exact color name).

I just roamed around for a while scanning shops and it was way late for lunch, i tried keeping away from a Pizza store, I went to Panda Express and got something in a to go box, I always have a feeling they give more quantity in a take out box than for here plates. I sat on the abnormal highted stool and noticed a chinese girl(not being a racist) beside me had a lovely brown color bag it had 'sabon' on it..looked like  its from a gift store, I cared to ask her which store it was..and it took me five minutes to explain her.. she did as if she was scrubbing something on her hand she said 'scrub', it was my next destination. Winter's almost here and i could see my skin getting that dry feeling..I entered the store, there was a brass tap.. with different aroma oils and scrubs around it, the pretty girls came to me and made me try their products. I sometimes even think about getting a cheaper deal on a 6$ Olay body wash and here I was buying a bottle smaller  than Olay for 21$!! I am miser, real real miser. I asked the girl to pack the ginger orange bathing oil, it was only in my bathroom that i found she wrapped rose extract for me...eee! I so much try to stay away from the majority peoples favorite. I remember how I use to turn away clothes saying 'this is very common Mom, you can find 5 girls wearing the same suit in different colors from mehdipatnam to tolichowki (neighboring streets)'.

Later in the day I bought Sugar scrub and some cosmetics, I know I've said this a lot of times- I always thought I should buy things only which are essential..coz I thought all this fancy stuff, charismatic aromatic pampering things are only good when you receive them as gifts. But trust me I never got such gifts, I remember sis giving me a charlie perfume, which still decors my cupboard.. I think its been four years I've had it, I always put perfumes on the top of the list when I am shopping for gifts, its so simple just enter into the store and buy a perfume gift box along with it would come a body wash and moisturizer, like a family pack. haha!

After this shopping experience I got this short time fever of making soaps, bath bombs. I probably will make few bath bombs this weekend and post some pictures here, lets see how they fizz.

Touch!

It's been so long I touched...touched someone with affection, devotion...touched someone without that 'Tujh me rab dikhta hai factor' :P
haha!Stop laughing this one again isn't a funny post...so!close that window of close up add.

I vividly remember the n- number of times I shook hands and tried to get that 'apna' feeling...the kind of feeling that went unnoticed when all those golden touches, hugs, kisses, pats, hits were around.

I wish I had an option of freezing....a freeze button and you sojourn in the moment...be there till you want.

Back home when I don't use to have mom beside me at night while sleeping...I used to hug a pillow and sleep. It was after two weeks I bought that extra pillow here, the cheapest one in meijer (2.5$ including taxes). The pillow's now become a papad in a week with a 20 kg or 40 pounds on it...that's my leg!duh!not to forget only one! Then I searched for a teddy bear in stores, cheapest teddy bear google search..but no! Teddies here aren't as cheap as pillows. :(
I wish I had a teddy with which I'd go to the university, take it around everywhere and grope anytime, anyone! :P

The first time I saw Bhargav Joshi(senior)...I so much felt like hugging him, he's one teddy bear in LTU- cuddly! Not like Mom, but he's got flesh on him so... :P
Yesterday I shook hands with him in a different way, not that casual shake...just to get that plump feeling. heheh I don't do that to everyone...I am not a weirdo!

Coming back to the touches...things I wouldn't let go, just to get that feeling....

* When starting for the airport, I wasn't able to find a hanky...so I grabbed Papa's hanky...
When I was unpacking here...I packed it in a transparent pouch, stapled it and it occupies a place beside the holy Quran and jaanmaz(prayer mat).

* Sisss!!!!! I wont remove the chain u put in my neck when I was almost ready to leave home...saying 'This is safety..'  how dare I remove it...My sis cried infront of me for the first time...the baby cried too..it's worth so many tears...how dare I remove it? I won't ever! never!! not for platinum or even Kohinoor.
Love you sis.stupid I am all tears...I didn't cry then coz I had reserved tears for now. Haha...I wonder if I should sit with  a tissue paper everytime I post..all my readers will be gone then and I'd rename my blog as Rotu's blog.

*The Pickle and the powder packets on which sis wrote in ink... 'Edible powder' haha!

Sadly nothing so silly from Mom and Humz and So!
I now understand why Rashmi deedi cried hugging mom when she was in Hyderabad. It appeared so silly then hugging someone else's mother and crying...Mom I miss the million dollar hugs of yours, I miss the way I used to put a leg and a hand on you and sleep. I now know how heavy I am...pity that pillow here.khehe!

* I also miss Jeetu's hugs smilies. :( Time difference doesn't allow even those '>:D<' lifeless smilies on net.

Miss all the hugs, touches, pats  and kisses.

Love you all..
Nameera.

P.S: the makhan in the Namz's blog page is not all gone...wait for the next blog, tissue paper country and The dreadful...r***** you'll get to know..well!keep guessing! ;)

For the sake of.....

Comments on last blog are enough...It's been so long i blogged..and everyone around are bored seeing the same blog on my page(including me)..so a new one!like every time i have nothing to describe, give views on a particular thing.so..this one's gonna be random like my sister does, ranting on and on..on all things she come across whole day :D
Exams!Exams!Exams! They got postponed so many times that if i'd have made an entry on every time it got PP'd my number'd have reached 40+ from 33..no!they started from 16th only...16th to 20 was hectic!very hectic one exam after another..it was like padho!ya maro! and then..5 holidays for next exam another 5(now)for next and..more 13 for the last one!JNTU zindabad! They changed the schedule for CAT aspirants.so..this delay would fetch no good to geniuses like me.
Hmm...I always thought, why's mum like this-gardening,cooking cooking, feeding us every time the same way like we wouldn't get anything to eat afterwards..,Sis joined the same category..Mom always nagged-don't know what she'll do away from home(though it's a different story today that when I praise sis,she says 'I always knew-my sincere beta!") :P..Sis joined the same category.
  • Took jeejs to some nursery for buying plants.
  • started Knitting.
  • She starts cooking quick after she comes from office(I refused to agree,my bro told me so ,when he went at Sis's place to Gurgao!)
  • She's fond of money plants.(Mum must have told dhan ayega!)
  • She've suddenly started liking Govt servants.(here she became wiser i think)
  • Feeds hubby like hubby didn't eat since donno how long(Jeeju, nothing towards you ok!)
I've observed only this things..
And..and..and..i already told you that this post'd hold all random things..
Hmm...The scooty(kinetic flyte) sissy sent me,I am unable to drive that!!grrr!!I always said my friends"Huh!Nameera, wont learn driving a scooty or anything,ok?directly four wheeler!"And I also tried learning a car ..then I thought,If i'd start driving on roads, fear of riding a four wheeler would go and then i can learn four wheeler easily. But now! :(
I bought red chappals too,to match it!My tagheuer red frame to matches it.(Yes!I took the frame into my hands and saw the spelling of -tag-heuer!)The same frame is worn by SRK you know...when i told the same thing to Pa,he scolded why do you have to compare yourself with a man dancing on roads!(hawww!!SRK look what papa said).
Spelling mistakes remind me...I forgot the spelling of-receiver,absorption,center and at times while writing I was confused if to use their or there during the paper!I felt so shamefull seeing small Darsheel(taare zameen par fame kid)doing an add of spell a bee! :(
I don't have anything more now...!!
This post was only to save my record of posting things every month, not for all you desperate readers like I said at the top of my blog! :P
