There's something about Rain.

There's something about rain that reminds me of Bangalore. In India I always loved rains when people would take a break from the day and enjoy a cup of tea and hot pakodas just because it is raining. Papa would walk in his white kurta in muddy water and mom would yell from upstairs -'it's all dirty water, come upstairs,' to which papa would respond like a weather reporter -'poora bhar gaya, tolichowki doob jata.' (it's all filled with water, the city will drown).

It reminds me of my favorite city in India - Bangalore, where I discovered the love of my sisters life 'Jeeju' who took care of me when I was on a bed rest every Saturday's when sis was gone for work. We sat eating the whole box of rasgullas not leaving any for sis.

I always had the door of the room open so that I could see what everyone's doing from the vents of the gate. The city is the most clean city in India in general, at least the part of area I lived - Koramangla, so you smell the wet earth every time it rained.

It's been raining a lot here, President Obama declared 'disaster' as death toll went to 21 in texas because of floods, I was thinking Modi is yet to express his thoughts about the heat waves and death toll in India which is more than a 1000 in just a week.

That's it for this morning.

The Day - May 12, 2012.

May 13/ 2013

It's been a year we graduated, life's very different now. While giving me the degree Dr Grace said 'No more late night studies,' he was right. It was end of late night studies, getting off work early to finish the home work, no more skipping meals and living on monster drinks. Sometimes I miss all that, when I see students in the university, I don't go there often but I don't miss any chance to go there. Two days back I attended the graduation ceremony of few friends, no doubt it was super fun, let me correct myself not as fun as my Graduation day was, I know I will never stop comparing and proving my thing the best and yes I don't like it when people compare my things or me to something else.

I was such a jerk to not write a blog on my Graduation, I remember sis and few friends told me to write one, but it took long to get back to blogging, well I at least started writing again, I am glad. When I was asking the tickets from Dorrie, our favorite International Student adviser, I asked her what time do we come in she said 'the same time as you did,' I was dumbstruck -What time did we go? All I remembered was my stomach ache, it hurt so much, no food for 5 hours, not even water. When we came out of the arena, people were congratulating us and I so much wanted to get out of there and calm my stomach.

I remember sis kept telling me 'Its your day, you have to look the best and you have to party hard.' We didn't have anything decided all we knew was our seniors were going to attend the ceremony, none of our parents had come for the ceremony. It was very nice of our seniors to attend and make it memorable, I felt so blessed to have them when I attended my juniors(not really juniors but they graduated after us, so..)Commencement and realized what their presence really meant.

I remember I got up early at six thirty or seven, keeping in mind my hair have to be straight-straight  like a bamboo stick not like noodles or Shahnaaz Hussain( not insulting her, her hair are great but I don't like them cos I got the same kind of hair). I got ready early because I knew I have to go on Skype and see my parents on the big day, I logged in and saw that they're not online, I called them and guess what, my sister told me they cannot come online because the transformer blasted because of the overload the neighbors put as there  was a marriage in the adjacent house. I cursed the neighbor to death, forget about they were celebrating an important function before marriage and its all dark in their house, my parents couldn't see me on the special day nor they would be able to watch the ceremony online was my sorrow. My elder sister came online and she took pictures and sent to the potter sister and also posted on Facebook, she told me that my hair were too dry and need serum, I rushed to Walgreens and got two varieties of  it, just in case if one didn't work.

Our super senior friend picked us in his SUV, we reached the venue and wore the gown, it was a special feeling, I don't think I can ever feel so proud wearing something but this was it. I was worried that my mood might spoil cause along with me were few unwanted faces walking in the ceremony too..but it didn't effect at all. I was saddened by the fact that everyone's parents were watching the live telecast of the ceremony and my parents were in dark..hah..I now remember they were not in dark, they were attending the neighbors function.

I see the pictures at least once a month and when I attended the ceremony last week everything just came out like live, I was seeing myself walking, so happy waving hands at my friends who were cheering us, taking pictures. I was seeing my juniors and I felt that they sad/tensed or nervous, I was waving hands seeing them but they all were just walking, I actually don't know if they were able to see us in so much crowd.

It was an experience I never want to forget except the stomach ache part. I still didn't see my degree with a feeling of achievement, I only saw it when I had to scan and send it to someone, waiting for Mom to see it first and then I can see it, I know she deserves it more than anyone.

06-10

2006-2010
No! I didn't get my Graduation Cap and Degree Yet. But for I have completed  four big years of Engineering and got my results long longgggggg back as a faithful blogger who shared every important event of her life, I couldn't keep myself back from writing this post...
THE FIRST GLANCE
25th Sep-2006
Spoilt brat who thought would get a payment seat in  a Hi-Fi Vasavi or CBIT Engineering college was dumped into a Minority Women's Engg college. And it was this day(they said it was Orientation day, which I don't think was at all) I saw my college for the very first time, painted pink coz it was Women's and it's architecture somewhat like Minars or Tombs coz it was a minority(minority in A.P is  a quouta/status given to muslims). Papa was there with me, the moment I said 'this?' he was ready 'Kitna acha hai, Pink building..so big..coconut trees, such a nice climate...what else do you want? And moreover 'ONLY GIRLS' '

I saw few known faces, but they were not enough to lessen the grief in anyways...Papa was deep into the lectures of the professors. I couldn't control it more and in the midst of 300+ people I started crying...nobody noticed it, that's the good point or may be I didn't notice anybody noticing it...
THE FIRST DAY AND THE FIRST FIGHT
With all fake enthusiasm I entered  the college at 7:45..the college timings as informed was eight to one thirty or two. All I saw in the college were few sleepy seniors...with oil in their hair and were not even sure about how to scare the newbie. I fought with a senior the very first day... Seniors-Juniors weren't  a big deal then, for the anti-ragging thing was full On...

We enter into the classes and reserve benches, i tried befriending few acquaintances and for the same wanted to reserve a bench for them too.. A fat chubby cheeks chick starts arguing with me..'First come first serve..yeh kaunsa rule hai? Your friends come late and you reserve place for them?'
Blah blah..we fought....I had to take a step back and  sit on the third bench...
F.R.I.E.N.D.S AT THE FIRST SIGHT
That chubby Cheeks became a good friend after few days...she's 'Rushu..', Miss best smile of our batch..

On fourth bench sat a cuddly girl, Shilpi-Dilli wali, always sleeping...I never looked back coz I'd feel sleepy too seeing her..along with her sat a sad and tensed puppy-that's Uzma! Always tensed and confused.

The third day I see this girl accompanied by her sister(senior too) who missed/skipped the previous day's classes and enquiring what was taught and when told there were lots of assignments, she took a deep breath and said 'acha hua main nahi ayee...'
That's Keshu/Penguin, My Miss Right and Wrong...Anything I doubt and apprehensive about-She's the medicine.

A week goes by... and I see a newbie transfered to our college...hardly trying to mix with others and trying to prove 'Oh!I can be alone..I am a  superwoman and I don't care if you give attention to me..'
That's------Angel, Farin Angel.
Now a days we fight a lot so we are 'Tom and Jerry' now.
CLASSES
Classes!Classes!
They were never ever interesting...In other words the faculty never tried making them interesting.
I hardly remember writing down notes..I used to nod my head and scribble in the diary with a pen which wouldn't write...yes with no ink in it or I used pencil coz I thought 'Why waste Pen/Paper', we also planned if the lecturer would ask 'why aren't you taking notes..?' we'd say'we are sisters..'(me and the ultra fair chick beside me)..
A lecturer once came and checked my bag to see how many books I carry...Thank God Sidney Sheldon was lying in my desk then.. :p

This is when I got the habit of reading...starting with Five point someone of Chetan Bhagat, Sidney Sheldon, the twilight boring series and many other authors now.
Will never forget How Shil and Uzma quarreled for the twilight books, how they bought the whole series putting their pocket money. :P

Can never forget how shil got caught every time she pretended writing notes while reading the vampire and other stuff...
LABS
Gosh! Ask me which software language are you good in?
None!
No E-CAD/C/VLSI/Verilog. Technically what I learned in four years is nothing, absolutely zero.
The practical Labs were interesting...though half of the equipments were in  a 'to be repaired condition..'when we'd get to practice in the lab hours and a technician would repair them just before the practical final exams.Huh!
VIVA
You'd get to see everybody flipping pages of N-number of readers, making notes. But Namz every time knew, even if she prepares for VIVA, the lecturers wouldn't question her the easy ones or even if she answer them right ,..it'd sound wrong to the them, may be this is every students psychological state of mind.
I remember one of the lecturers  saying ..'I'll give you a zero..Go!' in final external Lab. Oh!that was Udaya Lakshmi, terror for all the Electronics students...
EXAMS
Frankly speaking exams were never so handy! :P
Buy an ALL IN ONE/BIBLE(that's the name of publishers)..in simple words its guide for you...If you are going to write a 2010 paper look for questions of 2009, all you have to do is Love it sincerely for +24 hours before exams... and you are done, you'll pass with a 70% for sure... :P
That's JNTU.
And all you graduates passed from here...cheer here once 'JNTU Zindabad!JNTU Zindabad!'
Yes..Yes I know it only gave us a little more on our memos and zero knowledge. But when you are given a chance why not utilize it? We did it..completely.

Few things which I/We  did and can never ever forget...
Ran from college without taking a permission from the medical entrance..One of the lecturers saw me..and took me to H.O.D the next day, when the H.O.D asked me 'Where and why did u go?' I replied 'I have a seminar today and I wanted to prepare for it..' :P
I remember how everybody supported me, when i was taken to the H.O.D specially sweetheart Sabi(Class Representative) saying 'We all are there with you..don't worry'

It was in our second year when I took a half day leave and Keshu tried walking off from college too and the watchman  caught us. when raised questions I said 'She came to drop me..bid bye..' :P

Can't forget the N number of times we ran from the backyard of college..We ran hiding ourselves through a 2-3 feet long grass... not fearing of insects or any creature in there. Crossing that area when we'd find ourself on the main road used to be such a relief!

The way we studied for Exams, upstairs in the corridors, on stairs anywhere where we'd find peace to study.
The anxiety of the last exam to come soon...

All the cups of Tea's and bottles of Thums up, Sprite and Fantas...  wrappers of 'halke phulke potato chips' haha..
The endless hours we spent on the bus stop ...haaaaaa!

Ah!All those chit talks...between Me and Farin (Me on Last bench and Farin on First)..How can I forget I lost balance while picking the chit up and fell down from the bench in the middle of the class...
I still have few chits with me..

The way we wrote are final semesters exams-'MUTUAL coordination' is what we called it :P

There are many things to write...but these are the ones which even if I forget tomorrow the blog'd remind me...
College gave me few good friends who I wouldn't forget nor would they disconnect. And few other friends... best friends. People I befriended on net coz my college had less working hours..In short, the college wasn't all bad brought in new and good people in my life.

At last...I am dedicating this blog to all my buddies-Keshu, Farin, Sabi, Butool, Rush, Was, uzma and Shilpi and to all the E.C.E. 2006-2010 Batch mates...

Old Things recaptured...

well.. well.. It has been almost 15 years I visited this place.. It used to be a holiday spot in my vacations, when I was a kid merely 5-4 years old.. I can say my younger (potter sis) grew eating crush's mitti..

The summer vacations started (just 2 days back), the first holiday went in vain serving my guest (my cousins from west Godavari…) would prolong the guest part in my next blog.. For now yeah hey the picnic spot..

The 2nd day of my vacation and I cleverly escaped from my cousins ”Hyderabad dekho karikram,” and landed into ma’s office..

Also the plus point: would take books from ma’s office library. My potter sis refused to borrow any from her friends.. so I thought something is better than nothing and here I am in ma’s office writing another blog. And yeah… what I am here for… not to relentlessly speak about government servants.. or prove how kaamchor they are.. I really wanted to see what they do.. and write now I can see ma… chatting with my sis on phone narrating all the guest thing :D

I don’t know from where I developed interest in politics.. May be the hunger to power, developed one… but I think it all started coz.. I am here today sitting in A.P secretariat, the power house of government..(me's nt bragging ok..) May be I like siren of those dozens of ambassadors carrying “men in dhoti’s”… tummy 5-6 inches out, typical Andhra people.. who might have had idli-uttapam in their breakfast …or may be the thought of serving people.

I’ve seen clerks saying “ salaam, sahib”, “Namaste sir” to my parents.. when they enter into the office.. they don’t have to show their id too… everyone knows who they are… and from the watchman, to the clerk, lift operator, the chai wala and the tiffin-mirchi wala…. All are the same…”Namaste Namaste…”(feels proud to be known as a kid of government servants)…:P

Have seen people blabbering about government servants… “they don’t work! They chat! They hardly work!” I wouldn’t completely slam or accept the theory….

We started for the office at 11:00pm.. and reached at 12:00 pm.. mom tore a white sheet into half, she had no pen in her purse(my bro must have stolen it).. on being asked why this..?? she explained she’ll have to write to the higher authority that she was late.. and then she started the raga “vijaya..vijaya..” vijaya her clerk..she opened moms almirah and gave her a pen stand asked her to submit the letter to the higher authorities.

“bring my files amma..” all the conversation taking place was in telugu only… infact I haven’t heard any body speaking English… poor lady brought the files and then she called the thin chick beside her “do this dat this that…” No wonder!! No wonder!! Mom can’t bare a single back answer from us.. when she’s speaking no one’s supposed to speak! Otherwise be ready to get the deadliest look of hers, as ghostly as she can be GRRR!!!:P

Poor viji was called again to search the library cards, in the almirah… and mom asked me “what do u want for lunch?” it was 1:30,we came at 12:00 and she needs lunch.. On frowning, she said "everything would be over if you delay.."

we ordered idli, small samosa’s and flavored milk…(small samosa's are my favorite....doesn't matter in which oil they're fried..)

then mom said that “I don't think it's the right time to go to the library, it’s lunch time na.. we’ll go after 3..” it was then I started writing my present blog…In midst came again the same thin chick… clad in cotton salwar kameez, mom asked her for few print outs…. She did few mistakes.. mom angrily threw the papers and took the printouts herself… poor chick.. I asked mom why did she do like that?? She said “new chick! Should make her work as much as possible… beginner na…” how evil!! :P

Our lunch came and we had it.. mom typed and typed looking at some papers into M.S word documents… some of the people in the hall went out for lunch at 1:00 and it’s 2:30 and still they aren’t here…?? GOsh!!

I can see a man on my right hand side desk.. scratching his mustache .. hardly interested in work.. kept chatting on phone.. don’t know may be his gf… ah no… must be wify.. it reminds me of jeet….:P but poor people… what I noticed is nobody’s g-talk or meebo’s opened.. yes I spied :P All oldies… what will they do with g-talk & meebo...

one of the silliest thing... mom started "chi!!chi!!... this fellow writes filling for filing and she types the same and prints it out… no abbreviation too…huh!!”

I wonder how the kid beside can play the same bike game for hours… reminds me of my brother .. he still does whole day on zapak…

Its 3:00 now… I am bored and almost sleepy after having samosa’s and the flavored milk…

HOsh PosH!!!

flash back: when I was 3-4.. I remember, how I used to sleep in my pa’s cabin.. in a fully air conditioned room which was allotted to him when C.M(pesh)…(don'ta sk me what C.M peshi is,even I don't know..)

I remember, how I used to run in between pa’s legs and hold him tight, when I used to see that man in mustache… mustaches scare me! They still do! I deleted a man in my friend list on my orkut.. and rerely replied him when he scraped only coz he wore a mustache…:P

Present:

hee..hee… the man’s playing the games on the comp… with the kid… ah!! Look at this.. wify joining too..oh!! small family happy family’s perfect example infront of my eyes…

its been two point ** hours and the uncles are here...1:00 to 3:13 ..awesome timings..I wonder if they cooked, ate and came :P

Am drowsing....How can one sit like this for hours.. ?

Went into the library, the librarian informed that she has to shut the library..and I picked John Grisham's "The client"...Lets see..if i read or just turn pages :P

I conclude: i feel that the govt should ban the spoon feeding thing..(the clerks for giving a pen stand..and all..)

Reason:The raising Kilos of my Mom..

Rest all..yes they do work..they aren't that lazy as i thought....

I realized :Why Pa gets lazy when it comes to office..

Why jeet rushes home so punctually from Office..

Why Maa craves for holidays.. :P

the delay in blog publishing's brought to you by my cousins xyz!
